A simple stir fry made with brussel sprouts with a Indian style tempering, called tadka.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Frozen or fresh Brussels sprout – about 15
  • Chopped green chille- 1
  • Garlic clove- 1 (thinly sliced)
  • Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
  • Chana dal – ½ tsp (optional)
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Fresh Coriander leaves for garnish
  • Sugar- 2 pinches
  • Oil- 2 tsps
  • Salt to taste and
  • Lemon juice to taste

Recipe:   Cut the brussels sprout to half. If using frozen defrost them like i did. Now take a pan add the oil. When it gets hot add the mustard. When then the mustard starts dancing around, add the chana dal and cumin seeds. Fry for few second, then add the green chille and the garlic.  Now add the brussell sprouts and the salt. Mix well. Sprinkle some water. Close the lid and cook till the vegetable gets soft. Its take about 10 to 15 minutes. While cooking stir once in a while and sprinkle with some more water if needed.   Once the brussell sprouts are soft and have a very light brown color on them turn of the heat. Add some lemon juice, sugar and fresh coriander leaves.  Mix and its all ready to be served.
