It’s a simple snack or side dish prepared by boiling dry peas and do a tempering with mustard, green chili, coconut and coriander leaves.

Green Peas Sundal – a popular South Indian snack made during festivals like Navratri. These Sundal can also be enjoyed as a snack.

Ingredients
- 1 cup dry green peas
- 3 green chili, slit
- 1-2 tablespoons grated coconut, fresh
- 1 tabslepoon oil
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- ⅛ teaspoon asafetida
- lemon juice to taaste
- salt to taste
- 1 tabelspoon coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Wash and soak the green peas in plenty of water for atleast 6 hrs. After they are soaked, discard the water and add 3 cups of water add half tsp of salt and pressure cook the green peas till soft but still holding its shape. Drain the water from the green peas.
- In a pan heat oil, and add the mustard seeds. When the mustard pops, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and green chili. Fry for few seconds, then add the asafetida.
- Add the boiled green peas, fresh coconut, salt to taste and lemon juice. Gently mix. Finally add some chopped coriander leaves and turn off the heat.
