With few basic Asian staples, this popular Chinese take out can be easily made at home. Easily customizable as per your liking and is protein packed with the right amount of carbs and veggies.
There are 4 components to making this Crispy Tofu Stir Fry.
1- Cook the rice.
2- Stir fry the broccoli (optional)
3- Air fry or Pan fry the Tofu
4- Making the Tofu Stir Fry
Air Fried Tofu:
Remove the tofu from the package, drain and place it between two towels or paper towels and press gently to remove the excess moisture. Repeat couple of times until a good amount of moisture is removed from the tofu.
Cut the tofu to bite size cubes.
In a large bowl add 1.5 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon of corn starch, ½ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon black pepper and salt to taste. Mix it well.
Add the cubed tofu and a teaspoon of sesame oil. Gently quote the tofu with the flour mixture.
Transfer the tofu to a greased air fryer and air fry at 400 F for 13-15 minutes, tossing half way. Alternatively you can also pan fry the tofu.
How to make Tofu Stir Fry:
Sauce – In a bowl add 3 tablespoons peanut butter, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2-3 tablespoons sambal olek ( or sriracha), 2 teaspoons maple syrup, 2 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 2 teaspoons grated ginger and 3 grated garlic cloves and ¾ cup water. Mix it well to remove any lumps.
Heat a wok and add 2 teaspoons oil. Add 1 cup onion (layers separated and cut into squares) and 1 small bell pepper ( cut to cubes). Add a pinch of salt and stir fry for 5 minutes. Keep the veggies slightly crunchy.
Add the peanut sauce and cook for couple of minutes. Add the air fried tofu, ¼ teaspoon of crushed black pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Finally finish the stir fry with green onion and a squeeze of lemon.

Ingredients
Crispy Tofu
- 14 oz tofu, drained, pressed and cubed
- 1.5 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon corn starch/corn flour
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon crushed black pepper
- 1 teaspoon oil

Sauteed Broccoli
- 3 cup broccoli florets
- 2 teaspoons sambal olek
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1-2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ⅛ teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon oil ( I used avocado oil)
Peanut Sauce
- 3 tablespoons smooth peanut butter ( or almond butter)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tabslepoon vinegar
- 2-3 tablespoons sambal olek ( or sri racha)
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons grated ginger
- 2 teaspoons grated garlic
- ¾ cup water

SAUTEED BROCCOLI
- Stir fry the broccoli with two teaspoon of oil till slightly soft. Add 2 teaspoons of sambal olek, 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, pinch of brown sugar, salt to taste.
- Gently toss the broccoli, taste and adjust the seasoning.
