Hello there, Namaste! I am Madhavi (aka Madhu) the face behind this website. I am the founder, writer, photographer and editor of this site. Welcome to Madhu’s Everyday Indian, a food blog with simple and delicious recipes, mostly Indian inspired.
Being born and raised in India, most of my recipes will be Indian. But living in the States for almost two decades, I certainly have had a diverse food experience. This includes Mexican, Italian, Thai, Chinese and traditional American food. So in addition to the Indian recipes, I will be sharing the above mentioned cuisines too.
On a side note, if your are wondering if the above picture is my kitchen? It sure is……and thank you for noticing my shiny counter tops ( lets not discuss how much time I spent cleaning, before I clicked). This is where all the drama of me cooking, clicking and shooting videos for website and the you tube channel takes place.
about my website
Madhu’s Everyday Indian was born on November 2006. Those were the days when food blogging was hardly known and you could hardly find many recipes in the net. That’s when i decided to start a food blog, it was also my way of keeping a log of the family recipes from my mother and in-laws. I was a hobby blogger and I enjoyed sharing recipes with my readers when ever i got a chance. Even after 12 years of blogging, my love and interest to blog and share recipes continues to grow.
Madhu’s Everyday Indian went through few name changes in the past. I was previously blogging with the name Madhusvantalu@wordpress.com and Madhu’sIndianRecipes@blogspot.com. Though I moved all my recipes to this site, I have old food images with the previous names on the website. If you happen to see some content with these names, that would be still me.
what kind of recipes will I mostly share?
This blog is Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian website, which simply means i will be sharing recipes which include vegetables, diary and egg products.
I have close to 300 recipes in the site, which include-
- Traditional and some easy Indian Recipes
- Kids Lunch box recipes
- Kids after schools snacks
- Indian festival Recipes & Holiday Recipes
- Vegan recipes
- Eggless Baking, & Cakes & Bakes
I like to cook home made dishes with fresh ingredients and products which are in season. You will not see me talk too much about calorie count, but I believe in portion control.
I prefer eating home made food and try avoiding processed food. But I have young kids at home, who love to munch on sweet and salty goodies. I try to avoid as much as I can, but not completely. So sometimes you will see me posting pictures of these food, with their meals.
I am not a physician or a dietitian, so all the recipes I share are what works for me and my family. Please use the recipes only as guidelines, and use your own judgement while making them.
