Sesame Seeds Ladoo (without Jaggery Syrup)

Sesame Seeds Ladoo also called Til ke Ladoo is a nutritious Indian dessert made with sesame seeds and jaggery. Sharing the easy method of making Til ke Laddu without jaggery syrup.

About this recipe

Sesame Seeds Ladoo, made with just two ingredients is a simple and traditional dish made for festivals like Makara Sankranti or Lohri. In Andhra we call these Nuvvula Undalu.

These ladoo are also consumed in the winter months as Sesame and Jaggery have heating properties, they help in keeping the body warm during winter.

How to make Sesame Seeds Ladoo?

1- In a pan add the sesame seeds and dry roast them in medium flame till pale brown. Stir often to avoid burning. When the sesame is roasted you will also observe the nutty aroma from the sesame. Turn of the stove. 

2 & 3 – Let it cool for 5-7 minutes. Transfer the roasted sesame to a blender and coarsely grind it.

4- Add the grated jaggery to the ground sesame seeds.

5 & 6 – Pulse it few times till the mixture comes together and you can make a ball.

7 & 8 – You can also roll the ladoo with roasted sesame seeds.

Pro Tips –

Roast the sesame in low-medium flame, to avoid burning.

Use good quality jaggery or jaggery powder.

Do not over grind the mixture, if not the sesame will release lot of oil.

FAQ’s-

Can I use jaggery blocks?

yes, grate them and use it in place of jaggery powder.

What kind of sesame to use?

Use White sesame seeds. If using sesame which have been been stored for long time, smell it to make sure they are fresh.

What else can I add to these ladoo?

Cardamom and ghee.

What other variations can be done?

You can add roasted peanuts, almonds, or desiccated coconut.

Easy Sesame Seeds Ladoo (with out jaggery syrup) | Nuvvula Laddu

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup white sesame seeds ( 200 gms)
  • ¾ cup jaggery powder

Instructions

  • In a pan add the sesame seeds and dry roast them in medium flame till pale brown. Stir often to avoid burning. When the sesame is roasted you will also observe the nutty aroma from the sesame. Turn of the stove. 
  • Let it cool for 5-7 minutes. Transfer the roasted sesame to a blender and coarsely grind it.
  • Add the grated jaggery to the ground sesame seeds and pulse it few times till the mixture comes together and you can make a ball.
  • Make round balls. You can also coat them with roasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Roast the sesame in low-medium flame, to avoid burning.
Do not over grind the mixture, if not the sesame will release lot of oil.
You can also add a tea spoon of ghee and fresh cardamom to enhance the taste.
