I love making Indian dishes in Waffle form. Some of my favorite Indian style waffles are Dosa Waffles, Sabudana Waffles, Masala Vada Waffles and Green Moong Dal Waffles.

The Rava Waffles recipe I am sharing today is so easy to put together. You can add a good amount of veggies to make it more nutritious.

How to make Savory Semolina Waffles

To a large mixing bowl add 1 cup of rava (semolina), ½ cup yogurt and ½ cup water. Mix and let it rest for 15 minutes.

While the rava is resting chop all the veggies.

After 15 minutes, the rava would have absorbed all the liquid.

rava, yogurt and water mixed together and veggies prepped in a steel plate

Now add ⅓rd cup onion, ⅓ rd cup boiled corn, 2 tablespoons grated carrot, 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, 1.5 teaspoons cumin powder, 2-3 finely chopped green chili, 2 teaspoon grated ginger and 1 teaspoon salt.

Mix all the ingredients. As the batter was thick I added 2 tablespoons of water to it. Set a side for five minutes.

Add ½ teaspoon of eno and a teaspoon of water on top of the eno to activate it. Mix it well.

veggies and eno added to the rava mixture

Preheat the waffle maker and spray some oil. Pour the batter in the middle and spread the batter to fill the cavities and drizzle some oil.

Cook on low-medium setting in your waffle maker till done. Don’t make the waffle too crispy, it will end up becoming chewy.

Tips & Notes

Rest the rava and yogurt mixture for 15 minutes to soften the rava.

If you don’t like to add eno, you can skip it. Eno would make the waffle a bit more softer. I have tried both ways and liked it either way.
